Staffordshire University Academy are delighted to announce that we have recently become the host school for the School Games Organiser position for Cannock and Rugeley. The ‘School Games’ is a project funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust which aims to create a high quality competition calendar that gives young people the chance to take part in enjoyable and meaningful sports competition with an emphasis on inclusion and participation for all.
The mission of the school games is:
“Keeping competitive sport at the heart of schools and providing more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best.”
And their vision that:
“By 2020 the School Games will be continuing to make a clear and meaningful difference to the lives of even more children and young people.”
Mr Rowell has taken on the position at Staffordshire University Academy and now has the task of inspiring pupils from 50 schools in the Cannock and Rugeley area to be engaged in both intra and inter school sport. He will run a number of sporting events in a range of different activities and formats for pupils aged 5-18 aimed at using sport as a tool for personal and social development.
