Friends of Hednesford Park
A selection of students across KS3 have the opportunity to attend the Hednesford Park initiative which takes place at Hednesford park every Friday. Students have been involved in a number of different activities such planting new trees and flowers, repairing and creating new displays, as well as participating in some whole group team activities. Students spend their time at the park outside, so have to show resilience and an excellent work ethic in order to be successful. The next stage of the initiative is for students to attend and participate in planting 4000 saplings for the urban forest. Students across KS3 will be participating in this scheme over the next academic year.
Charity Work
Staffordshire University Academy supports a wide range of different charities throughout the year with fundraising and commitments of time.
MacMillian Coffee Morning
Each year, SUA6 students will plan and deliver our MacMillan coffee morning. This year we held a bake sale and we raised £172!
Hello Yellow
This year for the charity MIND and for Mental Health Awareness Day 8th October 2021, we held a bake sale and members of our Junior Leadership Team raised awareness about mental health within assemblies. We raised £87!
Cancer Research UK
The Junior Leadership Team, held a non-uniform day to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We raised £480!
Children in Need
Children in Need fundraising activities in the academy. We held a non-uniform day for the students and staff! We also requested everyone wore an item of yellow clothing, or something which celebrated Children in Need to raise awareness of the importance of the work they do.
All tutor groups throughout the academy designed and made a range of games and activities. We all got to look around each of the tutor groups stalls, watch the charity football match between SUA6 and Year 11, and had a great time taking part in games during period 5. Through the fantastic efforts of students across the academy, we raised £970.
Reverse Advent Calendar
Further to this, the Junior Leadership Team organise the reverse advent calendar. Everyday during December, members of each tutor group, bring in items to donate to the local food banks. Last year we collected over 45 boxes. How many will we collect this year??
Chase Community Partnership
The Council has launched an official website for the Chase Community Partnership which can be used by both partners and local residents. The special website not only provides visitors with information about the Partnership, but is also a way of showcasing successful initiatives that are being delivered in the District. The website will be the main communication resource for all partnership activity and will act as a central hub of information.
Use of the website will help local residents and partners understand the Partnership and the ambitions of the Local Partnership Plan. It is hoped by showcasing the activity of the Partnership; it will instil community confidence and improve public perception amongst those living in Cannock Chase District.
The website is available at www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/partnerships
