Staffordshire University Academies Trust wishes to formally consult regarding Staffordshire University Academy’s admissions arrangements for 2027/2028. In line with the School Admissions Code, we are required to carry out a public consultation with regards to changes to our Admissions Policy.

We are proposing the following changes to the current policy within the oversubscription criteria for the 2027-2028, detailed on pages 13 and 14:

· The removal of the priority for children on medical or hardship grounds

Staffordshire University Academy is committed to serving our local community as effectively and fairly as possible. Over recent years, we have received increasing feedback from our community to review the catchment area due to proximity to Staffordshire University Academy, established community links, and the practicalities of daily travel.

The consultation therefore also includes a proposed expansion of the catchment areas currently giving priority for admissions to schools within the Cannock area. The expansion would create new shared areas, giving children living in the area priority within the oversubscription criteria for both Staffordshire University Academy and Kingsmead Academy, and a further shared area for Staffordshire University Academy and Cannock Chase Academy.

A full copy of the proposed admission arrangements can be viewed on the school and Trust website: www.suacademy.co.uk and www.suatrust.co.uk<http://www.suatrust.co.uk/>.

The purpose of this consultation is to gather views from parents, carers, staff, neighbouring schools, local authority and the community, ensuring that any future changes are informed, transparent, and considerate of the needs of all stakeholders.

Your opinions are important to us, and we are keen to receive your comments on the arrangements before they are formally approved. We welcome all feedback and encourage our communities to share their views before the consultation period closes. Your input will play a vital role in shaping our policy and catchment area.

The consultation will close on 26th January 2026; all views and comments surrounding the proposed arrangements should be submitted no later than midday on 26th January 2026 to allow for the statutory consultation period of 6 weeks.

Please send your comments to: Office@suatrust.co.uk of Staffordshire University Academies Trust, Ashley 2 Building, University of Staffordshire, Leek Road, Stoke on Trent, ST4 2DF.
