Re: Pathways and Parents’ Evening, Tuesday 21st May 2019 4.00pm – 7.00pm
At Staffordshire University Academy we have reached a critical time of year for our Year 9 students as they begin to make decisions on the qualifications that they will take in Year 10.
As you will be aware students have been receiving information regarding options subjects through lessons, assemblies and tutor time. Having had some insight into the different subjects available, we would like to invite you to a crucial evening for students as we discuss options for their future programme of study as they move from key stage three to key stage four.
We are acutely aware that students need the ‘currency’ of grades in order for them to receive the best chances in life, and therefore have planned a far-reaching and highly accessible curriculum model to reflect this. In our most recent monitoring visits we have been praised for curriculum developments, something we take great confidence from. We believe that this curriculum will offer students an excellent platform to build upon their work at key stage three and prepare them well for their studies at our sixth form, SUA6, or other post-16 choices.
In order for you to feel completely informed we would like to invite you in for a combined Pathways and Parents’ Evening. This event will allow you to see what each course offers whilst having a tailored conversation with subject teachers. Students have already been asked to make appointments with their teachers throughout the evening. Subject staff will also have displays and information to help inform the choices that they will make. In addition, we would like to offer you, as a family, the opportunity to come into the academy following the event to speak with myself or another member of the Senior Leadership Team, so that the choices that are made are the most secure and appropriate for their future success.
In order to be as flexible as possible, there will be two opportunities during the event to hear a presentation on the curriculum model, rationale and its purpose. These presentations will occur at 5.00pm and 6.00pm in the academy hall, and will last for twenty minutes. You will only need to see the presentation once.
We look forward to welcoming you to this important evening.
